Description: |
Contains the graves of Col. Henry Ludington (Colonel of the Dutchess County Militia during the American Revolution) and his daughter, Sybil Ludington Ogden (the female Paul Revere of the Revolutuion). D. Mallroy Stephens, N.Y. Assemblymen from 1926-52 is buried there. Tere is a stone near the road with a Metal Plaque which says Revolutionary War Soldiers were buried there. From Sep.-Nov. 1778, the Continental Army was encamped nearby, after returning from the Battle for Rhode Island. It may be possible some of the wounded died and are the ones referred to as buried here, unless that is a generic marker and refers to Col. Henry Ludington. |
